Limousine industry

The Queensland Government is introducing vital reforms for the personalised transport industry that will promote greater choice for customers, while ensuring safety, accessibility, affordability and accountability for everyone.

The changes will ensure that Queensland's limousine industry is supported and ready to respond to new technologies and increased competition. The reforms will be implemented in three stages to ensure plenty of time to prepare, and apply to all of Queensland’s limousine industry, including drivers, operators, licence holders, and booking entities.

We are currently in Stage 2, which includes the following changes:

Driver requirements
Licensing
Vehicle requirements
Safety
Penalties and sanctions
  • Driver sanctions
  • Driver disaffiliation
Advertising
Monitoring and reporting
  • Data


Driver requirements
Licensing
  • No new limousine or special purpose limousine (SPL) licences will be issued
Vehicle requirements
  • Removal of limousine vehicle maximum age limits
  • Annual Certificate of Inspection
Fares
  • Itemised receipt of total fare provided if requested
Penalties and sanctions
  • Increase in fines for soliciting and touting
  • Increase in fines for stopping in taxi ranks
